Our practice is working with a specialist team based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, who are trying to find out why some people gain weight easily and others stay thin or are unable to gain weight even if they want to. One of the ways they can do this is by looking at the genes that influence a person’s weight.
The study team are looking for participants who:
- are aged between 18-65yrs
- have a BMI (Body Mass Index) <18kg/m2
- have NO history of eating disorders, renal, liver or gastrointestinal disease
- are otherwise well and do not have anorexia nervosa or exercise intensely
If you are eligible, you will receive a letter inviting you to take part, but there are lots of patients whose height and weight was recorded years ago. If you think you might be eligible or know someone who might, please call into the practice to have your weight and height updated.
